Meet
Amy Maloney,

Hi, I’m Amy (she/her), a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia. I work with adults and couples ages 18 and older who are navigating trauma, grief and loss, relationship and family challenges, and early recovery.
I believe therapy should be a place where you feel safe, respected, and supported as you work through the experiences that have shaped your life. My approach is compassionate and person-centered, which means our work together is guided by your individual experiences, needs, and goals. I deeply value autonomy and believe you should always have a voice and a choice in your healing process.
Trauma Therapy & Accelerated Resolution Therapy
Trauma can affect how we see ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us. Sometimes we know exactly where those feelings come from, while other times we simply know that something doesn't feel right.
I am trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (A.R.T.), an evidence-based approach designed to help individuals process traumatic and distressing experiences. One of the things I appreciate most about A.R.T. is that clients do not have to talk in detail about their trauma in order to work through it—although they certainly can if they choose.
A.R.T. can often help clients experience meaningful relief from trauma-related symptoms in a relatively short period of time. My goal is always to create an environment where you can approach difficult experiences at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you.
Grief & Loss Counseling
Grief is universal, but the way we experience it is deeply personal.
Loss can change nearly every part of our lives, and there is no single "right" way to grieve. I am passionate about helping clients understand their relationship with grief, make space for difficult emotions, and begin finding ways to move forward while honoring what—or whom—they have lost.
Therapy isn't about rushing you through grief or asking you to "move on." Instead, I provide a safe and compassionate space where you can experience, understand, and process your loss in your own way.
Support for Parents & Families
Parenting can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also bring challenges we never anticipated. Every child and every family is different, and sometimes parents need support of their own. I have had the privilege of working with parents whose minor or adult children are navigating substance use, mental health challenges, identity, and difficult life transitions. When someone we love is struggling, it is easy to become so focused on helping them that we lose sight of our own emotional health.
I help parents explore healthy boundaries, communication, self-care, and ways to support their children without losing themselves in the process. I believe one of the most meaningful things we can do for the people we love is continue working toward becoming healthier versions of ourselves.
Partner & Relationship Support
When your partner is struggling, you may find yourself struggling right alongside them.
Substance use, mental health concerns, family-of-origin patterns, and other challenges can leave partners feeling overwhelmed, confused, exhausted, or unsure of what to do next.
I work with individuals and couples to better understand these dynamics while developing healthier boundaries, communication patterns, self-care practices, and connections to supportive resources. You don't have to have all the answers before reaching out for help.
Counseling for Early Recovery
If you're in early recovery, congratulations - you've already done something incredibly meaningful.
Recovery is not a one-size-fits-all process. Each person's path is different, and learning how to protect your sobriety while rebuilding relationships, routines, confidence, and a meaningful life can take time. I enjoy supporting individuals during this important stage of recovery. Together, we can explore what sustainable recovery looks like for you and develop tools and support systems that help you continue moving forward.
My Approach to Therapy
In addition to A.R.T., I incorporate a variety of therapeutic approaches based on each client's individual experiences and needs. My work is rooted in a person-centered philosophy that prioritizes respect, autonomy, compassion, and the importance of choice.
At the heart of my work is a simple belief: we are all doing the best we can with what we have today, while still having the capacity to grow tomorrow.
My role isn't to tell you how to live your life. It's to walk alongside you, help you better understand yourself and your experiences, and provide tools and support as you decide what healing and growth look like for you.
Education & Experience
I earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Huntington University and my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Liberty University.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent 10 years at North Point Community Church in Alpharetta, Georgia, providing and facilitating care and support for individuals and families.
During my time there, I founded and directed Parent Connect, a supportive environment created for often-underserved parents of LGBTQ+ children. Parent Connect focuses on helping equip parents with support and resources as they seek to love and strengthen their relationships with their children.
A Little About Me
Outside of the therapy room, I'm married to my amazing wife, Amber, and together we have five children, one grandbaby, two cats, and a 75-pound dog who is completely convinced he's a lap dog.
When I find some "spare" time, I love being with my family, traveling, playing disc golf, and spending time outside in nature.
Ready to Take the Next Step?
Whether you're navigating trauma, grieving a loss, supporting someone you love, working through relationship challenges, or building a life in recovery, you don't have to figure everything out on your own.
I'd be honored to provide a supportive space where you can feel heard, explore what you're experiencing, and begin finding a path toward healing, growth, and greater peace.
